What was your first job after college and how did you get it?
My job as a community organizer here at ACORN was my first job out of college. I got it through a program called Justice Corps. This is a program, started by Randy Shaw of the Tenderloin Housing Clinic in San Francisco, that places recent college graduates in jobs related to the social justice field. If you are a soon-to-be or recent college graduate, this is one of the best options you'll have! www.justicecorps.org ... Often it is hard to find a paying job in this field when you're fresh out of college. Justice Corps is a great way to get a heads up in the social justice field.

What experiences and/or course work in college best prepared you for this job or influenced your decision to do this work?
My entire major of American Cultural Studies helped to prepare me for this work, however, learning Spanish was one of the best things I could have done. My work is so much easier.

Any regrets? What experiences and/or course work might have better prepared you for this work?
I would have liked to have studied a bit more political science and/or public policy.
