A Day in the Life
What are three things you love and three things you find challenging or frustrating about your work?
Love:
1.  Variety of approaches
2.  Seeing community change happen
3.  People

Challenging or frustrating:
1.  Working alone a lot
2.  Not enough time to do everything
3.  Apathy

What is the most important task on your desk right now?
Organizing a three-day training session for domestic violence prevention

What drives you to do this work? What makes you want to get out of bed every morning?
Mostly it's that I care about the people and I enjoy teaching/training. Other times it's the vision of building something important -- an organization, a community coalition, an international presence in a war zone.

How often do you "dress up" for work? Describe the culture of your organization.
Not often -- it depends on the task. As a consultant, sometimes I work at home totally casual, other times I attend meetings or lead trainings. When working overseas, also, it's very important to dress up for some meetings, not so much for others.

In a typical month, about what percentage of your time is spent on the following activities?
Talking on the phone 10%
Dealing with email 20%
Meetings with individuals 15%
Meetings with groups/committees 20%
Traveling 8%
Writing 10%
Reading 10%
Researching 10%

(Note: respondents could allow their answers to add up to be more than 100%)

What do you do when you are feeling burned out at work?
Walk the dog
