Founded in early 2010, Caerus pioneers new ways of understanding and engaging in complex environments. We partner with clients and communities to design, implement and evaluate interdisciplinary approaches to stability and growth in conflict, disaster-affected and frontier environments. Caerus's team includes an imaginative blend of social scientists with significant operational experience and field experts equipped with unique problem solving tools. Caerus includes three main practice areas: Planning & Preparation, Measuring & Understanding, and Design and Execute. Caerus' Measure & Understand group delivers rigorous measurements, analyses and evaluation of complex stabilization and security dynamics. We have developed and applied unique methodologies to understand complex environments and population dynamics where traditional research methods fail. Caerus' Planning & Preparing group helps governments, NGOs and businesses prepare teams and individuals to operate effectively in fluid environments. The company has designed and delivered courses in counterinsurgency and stability operations for a variety of audiences, including academics, tactical operators, diplomats and development experts. Caerus' Design & Execute group applies technologies in unique ways to address client needs while empowering people. This practice's projects include a distributed renewable energy project in Southern Afghanistan; the design and implementation of open source software tools adapted to austere and low tech environments to enhance local communities communication capabilities and civic participation; and design of secure, resilient urban communities through informed design of urban landscapes.
