Legal Advocate for Tax Exempt Organizations

I represent and counsel tax-exempt entities (charities, private foundations, religious organizations, professional and business leagues, social welfare organizations, social clubs and others), their directors, officers and employees in all aspects of their operation, management, and growth.

The legal needs of exempt organizations also include a full spectrum of issues beginning with exempt status and charitable giving, governance and corporate structure, nonprofit organization regulation and policy, general litigation (court and administrative), grant-making, intellectual property, real estate, employment, and international matters. Clients are advised about the proper administration of charitable solicitations, including state registration and reporting as well as the legal implications of working with professional fundraisers. Structuring partnerships and relationships with affiliated and unaffiliated nonprofit and for-profit entities such as commercial co-ventures & joint ventures agreements is another area of expertise. I can help ensure accurate and transparent reporting on annual tax filings as well as all state regulatory filings. I contribute to formulating long term management strategies on behalf of private foundations.

In addition to my practice I am involved as a board member of several charities including a community center, arts organizations and a charity that provides micro-finance loans.
