The Barcelona International Peace Resource Centre (BIPRC) and Transition International (TI) are pleased to announce the Reintegration of Ex-Combatants: Advanced Training Course (Senior Level), to be held in Castelldefels, Barcelona from the 29th June to the 7th July 2013.
This course has the specific aim of bringing together highly experienced practitioners, policy makers and donors from around the world to share experience and develop a common understanding of approaches to reintegration.
This course has the specific aim of bringing together highly experienced practitioners, policy makers and donors from around the world to share experience and develop a common understanding of approaches to reintegration. The course builds upon the principles of the Integrated DDR standards as developed by the interagency working group on DDR. Best practice on economic and social reintegration are taught by a pool of experienced trainers, and further explored and challenged by the participants. It further explores new practices, theories and actual discussions such as the demanded shift towards Community Based Reintegration (CBR), the linking of reintegration to SSR and the tensions of combining Reintegration with Transitional Justice mechanisms (TJ).
There are several existing high quality DDR courses that spend, on average, 3 to 4 days on DDR. However, the specialised course developed by Transition International is one of the few worldwide focusing specifically on the reintegration element of DDR with an in-depth focus on the specific requirements for designing and implementing effective reintegration programmes.
