It's estimated that 1.7 million adolescents in this country will experience homelessness this year. Many will be fleeing abuse, conflict and intolerance at home; others, child welfare and juvenile justice systems that failed to meet their needs.
- Despite being only 10% of the general population, LGBT youth make up between 20 and 40% of the unaccompanied homeless youth population.
- Within 48 hours, 30% of runaway and homeless youth become trafficking victims.
