On Their Own: A Forum Discussion on Youth Homelessness

Event

Event posted by: Street Sense

Event description

It's estimated that 1.7 million adolescents in this country will experience homelessness this year. Many will be fleeing abuse, conflict and intolerance at home; others, child welfare and juvenile justice systems that failed to meet their needs.

  • Despite being only 10% of the general population, LGBT youth make up between 20 and 40% of the unaccompanied homeless youth population.
  • Within 48 hours, 30% of runaway and homeless youth become trafficking victims.

Why is youth homelessness on the rise? What are its causes? What is being done to prevent it?

Join Street Sense and a panel of experts as we explore the issue and identify solutions.
