National Awareness Campaign: Fight for Freedom

Posted by: Human Trafficking Awareness Council, inc.

Description

The 2012 National Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign is one of the largest attempted campaigns of its kind in US History. The NAC is an event proposed by the HTA Council and organized by a committee comprised of various organizations dedicated to improving the communities across the country with the aim to promote cohesion and collective progress in ending human trafficking. We are collaborating with many different organizations to empower the citizens across the country and to provide an expanded support system for other non-profit groups both large and small in communities throughout the US.

During the week of August 6, 2013 we will host the co-sponsored National Awareness Rally in Washington D.C. This rally will feature a variety of events from training seminars and roundtable discussions to walks throughout the capital. All organizations that participate in the NAC will have an opportunity to set up a booth at the Expo Center so that participants will have an opportunity to learn about services and resources in their specific areas. We invite and encourage delegates from all ages, backgrounds, organizations, and communities from across the United States to have honest dialogues pertaining to local, regional and global issues of human trafficking relating to our communities. Though our communities may be separated geographically, each sub-community faces similar issues regarding this crime. It is an issue so pervasive that regardless of race, religion, cultural background, or social status, anyone can be a potential target of this crime. Therefore, the National Awareness Rally will create an opportunity for organizations to meet, exchange ideas, and organize a network promoting interagency and intercultural collaborations.

To ensure the NAC's success, we ask that you join us in our efforts to improve the communities we serve. By joining us in the NAC, you will be showing your members and our government that you oppose this inhumane crime and recognize that efforts must be taken to prevent it. We are currently anticipating a minimum of 50,000 participants at the National Awareness Rally and a great deal of media coverage for the entire campaign. By our calculations, we are expecting at least a final estimated 100,000+ participants at this event. We will have guest speakers consisting of community leaders, government leaders, and anti-trafficking organizations that have a comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand, and share our view that community awareness plays a vital part in the fight to end human trafficking.

The NAC welcomes all organizations that see the value of community development and involvement in ending this crime. By joining us in this campaign, you are showing your commitment to the improvement of our communities; it is the individuals in these communities that hold the lifeline to our ability of change in today's environment. As more community members become aware of human trafficking, they will begin to question what type of efforts are underway to protect their fellow citizens and children. As a response to this, we are starting to see companies and organizations proactively getting more involved in fighting these issues. As a result, our government, both local and national will begin to address this issue with more conviction then in the preceding years.

Human trafficking affects all of us. By involving your organization with this cause, you will be seen as an organization that supports the safety and improvement of the global community.

Join us as we Fight for Freedom!
