Developmental evaluation informs and supports innovative and adaptive development in complex dynamic environments. Developmental evaluation can be used for a range of purposes: adapting effective principles of practice to local contexts ongoing program development, developing new and innovative models, taking innovations to scale, and facilitating major systems change and rapid assessments in crisis situations.
Join us for an introduction and overview of developmental evaluation with Michael Quinn Patton author of Developmental Evaluation: Applying Complexity Concepts to Enhance Innovation and Use, which was published in 2011. Michael, former President of the American Evaluation Association, originated the developmental evaluation approach and has studied, written, and spoken about evaluation for more than a decade. Michael weaves engaging stories into his rich presentation to illuminate the application and impact of this evaluation approach. This will be a rare opportunity to experience developmental evaluation at a high level and to understand how it fits in the continuum of evaluation and how it is well suited to guiding innovative program development in complex environments.
