About us

Established in 2004 within the Iowa Department of Human Rights, CAPI is an agency dedicated to empowering Asian and Pacific Islander Iowans by ensuring that they have opportunities equal to all other Iowans. CAPI's duties include: advising the Governor and the General Assembly on API issues, especially the unique problems faced by non-English-speaking immigrants and refugees; working with youth to promote self-advocacy and community leadership; and publicizing the accomplishments of API Iowans.
