Explorations Academy is a small public, district high school located in the South Bronx. The mission of the school is to prepare students to take on the challenging opportunities of college and career, and to help them grow to be reflective thinkers while gaining the skills necessary to become productive members of the community. During the last four years, the school improved significantly, ultimately receiving As on its NYC Department of Education Progress Reports during the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school years. Aside from having a committed, high-quality staff, these impressive results are due in part to the significant emphasis placed on supporting English Language Learners and other students with special needs.
