About us

District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) serves 45,000 students in the nation's capital through the efforts of approximately 4,000 educators in 123 schools. As part of a comprehensive reform effort to become the preeminent urban school system in America, DCPS intends to have the highest-performing, best paid, most satisfied, and most honored educator force in the nation and a distinctive central office staff whose work supports and drives instructional excellence and significant achievement gains for DCPS students.

The Office of the Deputy Chancellor for Operations (ODC) is responsible for guiding the operations functions for all 111 schools within the District. The Office goal is for all DCPS schools to be ready on the first day of school and every day after so that all principals can lead, all teachers can teach, and all students can learn.

The Out-of-School Time Programs (OSTP) division aspires to lead the nation in programs operating outside of the school day. OSTP strives to close the achievement gap by ensuring that all DCPS students have equal access to high quality academic and enrichment programs, by providing year-long opportunities for positive youth development through high-quality academic, wellness, and enrichment programs for all youth regardless of race, income, or background. OSTP encourages and cultivates partnerships between DCPS and the youth-serving community throughout the city.
