NRDC is a leading nonprofit environmental organization that has been marshaling science and the law to protect the environment and public health since 1970. NRDC engages in scientific research, litigation, lobbying, and public education on air, water, public health, climate change, energy, public land, smart growth, international, urban, environmental justice, and nuclear issues.
NRDC's India Initiative on Climate Change and Clean Energy, launched in 2009, works with partners in India to help build a low-carbon, sustainable economy. Our work in India involves interrelated projects, which build on decades of NRDC's experience confronting environmental challenges in the United States and around the world.
NRDC seeks interns with the intelligence, skill, confidence, and maturity to assume serious responsibility. The ideal candidate will be a current undergraduate-level student who can integrate the internship into an ongoing course of study and obtain academic credit and/or work-study funding to support the work. Interns work with the India Initiative team to research issue areas related to our work in India and United States, and provide administrative support to help coordinate logistical and other team planning. Interns are invited to participate in team planning and strategy meetings.
Scheduling details are negotiable, but candidates must be prepared to work the equivalent of at least 18-24 hours NRDC's San Francisco office over the course of the fall 2012 academic term.
