Summary of Position:
NPHM seeks an outgoing, organized self-starter to join the Development and Communications team. The Development and Communications Intern will support the primary purpose of the team–to amplify the voice of the museum and to raise funds to further the mission of NPHM through print and digital communication, prospect research, written solicitations, and donor stewardship. This is a great opportunity to get involved with and learn more about corporate philanthropy, foundation and government grants, individual giving, and special events logistics.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Support staff in all areas of fundraising including grassroots efforts, individual donors, corporate sponsorships, foundation, government grants and special events.
Conduct prospect research and complete donor profiles.
Enter data in Little Green Light database.
Assist with annual appeals, including drafting letters, compiling prospect lists, and mailings.
Assist with fundraising efforts for special event fundraisers.
Assist with updating content for development-related pages on website.
Research, help edit grant applications and sponsorship proposals.
Support staff in all areas of communications including online newsletters (MailChimp), social media, and print mailings
Create innovative ways to grow our reach and communicate with our stakeholders through all forms of social media

Experience with databases is a plus
Knowledge of Photoshop or other design software a plus.
Currently attending a postsecondary institution, in a graduate program.
Be able to work 10 or more hours per week.
Ability to work between weekday work hours (9 am–5pm) a plus.
