Elders Share the Arts is a pioneering award-winning community arts organization. ESTA's mission is to empower older adults to find imaginative ways to express and share their life experiences through the arts. Our teaching artists work directly with a culturally diverse group of well and frail elders in community centers, libraries, senior centers, nursing homes, and hospitals. ESTA classes nurture elders' creativity while giving them opportunities for active, social engagement in building community.
Overview: ESTA is seeking Development Intern(s) to support various fundraising projects during the year, and assist in administrative duties as requested. Special projects for the intern(s) will involve prospect and funder research, , assisting with direct mailings and other fundraising initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to learn more about what goes on "behind the scenes" of a community-based arts organization. Type of Position: Intern/Volunteer (unpaid) at least college age Minimum Time Commitment: 6 hrs/week flexible * for a minimum of 3 months
Fill date: Immediately Duties: The Development Intern will be expected to assist with the following tasks: - Communicate with the press, local businesses and other non-profit organizations about our special events and community programs - Research potential grants and individual donors - Assist in creating individual donor support materials - Assist with mailings
- Attend staff and Development/Fundraising Committee meetings
- Assist with implementation and execution of ESTA's special events - Attend public performances, and staff and department meetings as often as scheduling allows
Qualifications:
MUST ENJOY WORKING WITH PEOPLE! Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently, with guidance from staff members. Strong Word, Excel, and database experience. Excellent verbal and written communication.
