Global Potential France Program Coordinator/Manager in Paris

Basic information

Position: Program Coordinator/Manager (Coordinateur(trice) ou Responsable du Programme)

Dates: January 3-June 31 2013, but applications also accepted on a rolling basis.

25-35 hours/week in Paris, France

It is also possible to do some work part-time. Please email for further details if part-time interests you. Volunteer unpaid position within 100% volunteer-run organization.

Based largely at PlaNet Finance (44 Rue de Prony, 75017) and also La Courneuve (end of line 7 or RER B)

Vacation to be determined with Executive Director; dependent on task completion since some work is carried out on weekends too. This job is very flexible based on your schedule.

Description

Initial induction period: Involves exposure to the various aspects and processes of Global Potential, in order to understand the culture and philosophies behind the organisation, both in France and globally. This will take around 2 weeks, to set up all your social media and accounts with Dropbox/Google Drive/Salesforce, as well as to integrate fully into the team and meet all the youth we work with.

Ideal candidate:

  • Entrepreneurial, creative, willing to take initiative and grow within the organisation.
  • Advanced/fluent level of French and willing to speak and write primarily in French. Bilingual in English is a plus, as we work with the offices in New York and Boston, but not essential.
  • Spanish-speaking would also be useful.
  • Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Interest and/or experience working in grassroots organisations or fast-paced and innovative start-ups.
  • Be able to do all of and/or specialize in one of the following tasks described below

TASKS DURING THE INTERNSHIP

WORK IN YOUTH ENGAGEMENT

  • Engage with rest of the team in France so that the new cohort of youth in GP France is feeling connected to the program, to the staff and to the youth of the first cohort in France, as well as abroad.
  • Attend and monitor workshops every Saturday in La Courneuve - organize curriculum, food, agenda, debrief (delta/plus), reporting back thereafter to team locally and globally (Facebook, email, calls) in both French and English
  • Co-Facilitate weekly workshops (February to June, 2013)
  • Support youth in their fundraising efforts (each have to raise 250 euros)
  • Support youth in their socio/psychological needs when required.
  • Seek out and organize community and cultural engagement opportunities for youth, ranging from social action to art exhibitions and movies
  • Work with youth mentors and ensure they remain involved and supportive of each youth
  • Find guest speakers to come present monthly to youth

MARKETING/COMMUNICATION

  • Help produce content for global GP newsletter
  • Participate and help coordinate conference calls with New York and Boston
  • Produce marketing kits and flyers for events and news of GP France and communicate this through all social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, blogs)
  • Help identify newspapers and social media forum to spread the word about GP France

FUNDRAISING AND GRANT WRITING

  • Participate in and locating new fundraising opportunities, writing grants, setting up fundraising meetings
  • Research opportunities for grants for GP France, corporate sponsors (airlines, companies)
  • Organize fundraising events in La Courneuve and other places
  • Assess and start reaching out to corporate partners once legal entity formed
  • Create additional marketing specific for funders
  • Organize in GoogleDocs all grants

HUMAN RESOURCES/ADMINISTRATION

  • Help recruit other volunteers
  • Coordinate staff schedules on Google Calendar
  • Act as point of contact for volunteers in France
  • Help organize board meetings in Paris
  • Managing Salesforce
  • Coordinating and assigning tasks via Huddle

CREATING PARTNERSHIPS

  • Build on pre-established partnerships with other non-profit organizations
  • Reaching out to new partners like Ashoka, Unis-cité and others
  • Partner with museums, theatres and various schools
