The New York Art Residency and Studios (NARS) Foundation is a not-for-profit arts organization committed to supporting artists and curators on an international level as well engaging the local community in Brooklyn and the Greater New York area. NARS provides an array of professional creative development opportunities for emerging artists through short-term residency programs, affordable long-term studio spaces, progressive exhibition programs, and engaging public programs that foster global understanding and dynamic cross-cultural dialogues. These services operate in conjunction with our education and community outreach initiatives to promote greater accessibility to contemporary art for the underserved local community in south Brooklyn.

The NARS Foundation is currently seeking two undergraduate/recent graduate students for its winter term Internship Program. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain hands-on experience in a non -profit organization and develop fundamental skills working in the arts. Due to our small staff, interns play a fundamental role in the overall administration and management of the organization. Interns should comfortable taking initiative as well working collaboratively, and display an active interest in contemporary visual arts and artist resources.

MARKETING INTERN

- Assist with press outreach, web postings and ground mailings

- Produce content and maintain active presence on various social media platforms

- Oversee tumblr blog; develop, write and publish entries

- Facilitate in producing and designing publicity material, including e-blasts, flyers and announcements

- Administrative duties as needed

Qualifications:

Experience with marketing outreach and research, strong grasp on various social media platforms. Detail-oriented, excellent proof reading, written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative suite required; some HTML experience a plus.

PROGRAMS/EDUCATION INTERN

- Provide general administrative support for public programs and open calls

- Facilitate and support development of community and education outreach initiatives

- Assist in organizing youth, family and school programs, including workshops, in-school activities and exhibition/studio tours

- Conduct research on local community audience and neighboring schools

- Help coordinate events and exhibitions

Qualifications:

Strong organizational and administrative skills, proficiency in written and verbal communication; knowledge of urban public school systems helpful; experience with Microsoft Office, Filemaker pro, Adobe Creative Suite.
