FINANCE INTERN---SNV-USA (BETHESDA, MD)

SNV-USA has three primary functions:business development, increasing the scale and impact of SNV's work, and contract management of US-source agreements.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
SNV USA is looking for an Accounting Intern with a strong interest in International Development projects to join our accounting/finance team for an internship. We will provide qualified individuals with outstanding educational and growth opportunities.
The student filling this position will handle a wide range of important duties while learning about accounting for grants and contracts funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and other U.S. Government or private donor organizations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review expenditure reports and supporting documentation received from SNV field offices on a monthly basis
- Assist with reconciliations of each grant, contract or cooperative agreement managed by SNV USA
- Assist with month-end financial reports
- Assist journal entries
- Help with grant payments receivable, and reimbursement payables to SNV field offices
- Assist with preparation for annual audit
- Perform account reconciliations on various Balance sheet and Income Statement accounts
- Support the finance team on yearly forecasting efforts
- Support the payment processing team
- Data entry as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants should be Accounting or Finance majors with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent communication skills are all essential to this position.
