The Eritrean Women's Community Center (EWCC) is looking for a new Programming Intern. We are looking for an immediate start-date, with July 1 – July 15th preferred. Full-time interns are desired; however, exceptionally qualified part-time interns (minimum of three days per week) will be considered.

About Us:

The Eritrean Women's Community Center in Tel Aviv, Israel is a community-based organization designed and run independently by a group of Eritrean refugee women. Established in November 2011, the Women's Center provides Eritrean women with a safe space as well as access to important services. Our Center is the first and only one of its kind, utilizing a grass roots approach to support Eritrean women in a fundamental way.

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Support the EWCC in connecting with partner NGOs, and serve as a representative in occasional meetings with partners, donors, diplomats and other stakeholders.
  • Manage English-language communications including social media, email correspondence, promotional materials, website maintenance, among others, as needed.
  • Plan and implement fundraising initiatives including crowdfunding and grant writing under the supervision of our Resource Development Coordinator.
  • Oversee organization of financial documents, receipts, and bills.
  • Provide capacity building support in areas such as using Dropbox, Google Drive, bookkeeping, etc.
  • Encourage and promote community involvement at the EWCC.
  • Under supervision of our Director, find creative solutions for gaps that need to be filled in areas such as individual services as well as programming.
  • Oversee short-term volunteers.
  • Additional tasks and short-term projects as needed.

Desired Competencies:

  • Strong passion and commitment to human rights and women's rights in particular- Required.
  • Fluent written and spoken communication in English- Required.
  • Working knowledge of Hebrew- Advantage, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of Tigrinya- Advantage, but not required.
  • Experience working in a multicultural context- Advantage.
  • Willingness to be flexible in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities-Required
  • Strong organizational skills- Required.
