Greenmarket's mission is to promote regional agriculture and ensure a continuing supply of fresh local produce for all New Yorkers. Greenmarket supports farmers and preserves farmland for the future by providing regional, small family farmers with opportunities to sell their fruits, vegetables and other farm products to New Yorkers.
The Greenmarket Seniors initiative aims to expand seniors' understanding of local agriculture and the importance of eating fresh, healthy and seasonal foods primarily through providing tours of local Greenmarkets.
- Assist Greenmarket staff in coordination of the Greenmarket Seniors project
- Reach out to New York City senior centers to schedule market tours and educational/nutritional workshops
- Lead seniors in walking tours of Greenmarkets
- Lead games with seniors like bingo and scavenger hunts both at market and senior centers
- Research and create materials and games appropriate to seniors and Greenmarket

Ideal Qualifications
- Interest in farmers markets and/or related issues – including public health, nutrition, food access, food systems and sustainable agriculture
- Strong communication skills
- Experience working in education or with seniors preferred
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Fluency in languages other than English a plus
This is an unpaid internship with flexible hours. We are looking for someone to start immediately and work around 10 hours/week until October/November.
