Description

National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) is an international nonprofit organization. The mission is to improve the quality of care for people with Parkinson's disease through research, education and outreach. Please visit our website at: www.parkinson.org.

NPF is looking for an intern to provide hardware, software and network support as well as troubleshooting in a Microsoft Windows Active Directory network environment. This individual will need to provide support on a wide range of applications and assist people on staff who have a varying degree of technical knowledge ranging from minimal to extensive.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as IT support to NPF staff, providing technical assistance when necessary. Responds to user requests for service and determines nature and extent of support needed. Provides support or refers to the appropriate staff member.
  • Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots a wide range of software used throughout the Foundation. Performs hardware/software upgrades to existing computer equipment as needed.
  • Documents all support cases in a timely manner.
  • Will respond to software problem calls on site or over the phone for users. Investigates error messages and determines resolution. Reinstalls program or replaces files that are causing errors. Calls software vendor or accesses online technical support to obtain software update. Investigates appropriate areas of potential problem and determines resolution.
  • Assist users in basic and advanced use of software programs including Microsoft Office and other applications used.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the operation and application of the software and hardware used.
  • Performs other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Prior experience in a Windows Active Directory domain environment
  • Prior experience in a Help Desk environment.
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills to independently manage projects and assignments.
  • Proven self-starter with good organizational and communication skills, a competitive drive for results.
  • Proven ability to learn new business, work independently to achieve goals and have a high sense of urgency.
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Must always display a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Position requires an AA/AS degree in computer related field plus two years relevant experience; or the combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position.
