Internship

The velorution is taking Boston by storm. Every Urban Planning intern is assigned a particular Union campaign they can help out on, whether it be a long-term policy effort, a particular street we'd like to see reconstructed in a more bike-friendly way, or outreach to a particular neighborhood. The complexity of the project and level of leadership is dependent on the intern's abilities and time availability. Skills learned include building coalitions, volunteer raising, using databases to increase volunteer engagement, engaging with planners, city officials, and electeds, and analyzing plans for possible improvements. Research is also a big part of the job. As with all internships at the Union—the responsibility for other office and event work is shared.

Internships are unpaid but we are happy to help students earn academic credit for their work. Interns who leave the organization in good standing may request a letter of recommendation from our staff.
