The Hatcher Group seeks outstanding college students or recent graduates for paid internships in its Bethesda, Md., and Baltimore offices. The internships could be full or part-time and would begin immediately.
Interns will join a small, exciting team working on progressive policy issues and advancing our clients' agenda for social change. The position involves a variety of tasks including substantive projects and administrative duties. This includes database creation and entry, assembly and updating of media lists, web site updating, policy and media research, preparation of reports and media briefing packets, e-mailing to reporters and advocates, and phone duties, filing, and other clerical work. Interns will also have an opportunity to write blogs, newsletter items, media advisories and other communication materials as needed.
Candidates should exhibit excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and phone presentation, as well as strong computer skills, including web research and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access), and basic HTML. Professional interest in journalism, the media, and domestic policy issues is a must.
