ABOUT Andrew Goodman and The Andrew Goodman Foundation

Andrew (Andy) Goodman was a 20-year old college student who decided to spend his summer as a volunteer for CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) registering African-Americans to vote. On his first day in Mississippi, June, 21, 1964, Andy, along with two other civil rights workers, James Chaney and Michael Schwerner, were murdered by the Ku Klux Klan. In 1966, Robert and Carolyn Goodman, founded The Andrew Goodman Foundation to carry on the spirit and purpose of their son's life. Andy's commitment to the right of all Americans to vote and his desire to make the world a better and kinder place motivated him to take action.

Today, The Andrew Goodman Foundation empowers the next generation to initiate and sustain creative and effective social action; we enable leaders and their communities to flourish by operating and investing in programs that advance civic engagement and intergenerational coalitions.Learn more about our programs and events here: www.andrewgoodman.org
