Better Future International is a volunteer-run, registered 501(c)3 charity organization based in New York City. Better Future currently operates programs in Tanzania, Haiti and Dominican Republic. Our mission is to create a better future for orphaned and vulnerable children through provision of nutritious food, health care, education and supportive services in a family environment so children have the opportunity to not only survive, but thrive.
Better Future believes that children benefit from living in a family environment. We utilize a Family Care Model, a sustainable, holistic, community-centered and child development-appropriate to raising orphaned and vulnerable children at the lowest possible cost. The model applies the concept of kinship care while supporting extended family members' abilitiy to provide care for orphaned and vulnerable children.
Duties:
- Overseeing financial recordkeeping
- Data entry
- Donation tracking
Qualifications:
- Interest in non-profit management
- Knowledge of QuickBooks required
- Good organizational skills
- Previous experience with managing budgets and financial accounts
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Approximately 10 hours a week, June - August. Hours and days are flexible. The position is unpaid, but course credit can be arranged in consultation with your university. This is a great opportunity to gain experience with a small and growing non-profit organization with a global presence.
