Internship description

SeaWeb, an international, nonprofit, communications organization dedicated to creating a culture of ocean conservation, seeks an Intern to be based in the Washington, D.C. area office. The Intern will provide professional support to the organization's communications team.

This is an unpaid internship. It is an exciting opportunity for someone who is dedicated to improving ocean conservation and gaining experience working for a non-profit organization. Hours are flexible to accommodate class schedule or other commitments. We request a minimum commitment of 20 hours a week, and prefer someone who can work four days a week, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, or 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Responsibilities:

Communications Projects (100% of time):

  • Formatting written material into HTML for posting online and for delivery via Email blast
  • Preparing images for use in HTML pages
  • Posting content on static php websites using Dreamweaver
  • Posting content in Wordpress websites using admin interface Assist in development of HTML and php web pages and HTML emails
  • Assist in development of Wordpress websites
  • Assist in downloading and reporting on website and email blast analytics
  • Perform image searches
  • Other projects may be assigned

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience with HTML and CSS coding for web pages
  • Knowledge of HTML tables and inline styling for email blasts
  • Experience with Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Basic Photoshop or equivalent for image preparation preferred
  • Experience with Wordpress interface preferred
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Reliability
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time well
  • Commitment to environmental issues

Our Washington, D.C. office is located in Silver Spring, Maryland (within one block from the Silver Spring Metro station).
