BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. Domestically, our 22 offices across the U.S. ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.
SCOPE OF HEALTH PROMOTION INTERN WORK:
The IRC is committed to developing a public health program with the overall goal of maximizing public health awareness, access, and advocacy for all refugee and asylee clients. Health promotion improves health and prevents or reduces illness. The IRC health team seeks to provide health information in diverse contexts and in a number of ways. The HPO intern will focus on providing health education in group settings.
This position reports to the Public Health Team Manager, Vanda Lerdboon.
