DESCRIPTION
The American Diabetes Association invites college students interested in non-profit work, fundraising and special events to participate in an internship with the Michigan Special Events team.
Position: Step Out Marketing/Special Events Intern
- Intern Needed: April – September 2013
- Hours: 25-30 hours per week (flexible)
- Intern Site: 300 Galleria Officentre, Suite 111, Southfield, MI 48034
Intern(s) will work with Event and Online Managers of the American Diabetes Association signature walk, Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes, taking place in Detroit and Grand Rapids in the fall of 2013.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Walker recruitment and cultivation
- Event logistics
- Event marketing, including press releases, pin-up campaigns, mailing projects and assisting social media/online engagement.
- Working with event participants to encourage the utilization of our online fundraising tools.
- Data entry
REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent written and oral communications skills. Must be comfortable with cold calling and public speaking.
- Demonstrate proven leadership skills and willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment, but can also handle independent projects.
- Experience and/or interest in social media and online marketing preferred.
- Must be able to multi-task and be extremely detail-oriented.
- Proficiency in database management and design of spreadsheets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student (or recently graduated)
