Internship description

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) works in more than 190 countries and territories to save and improve children's lives, providing health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF (USF) supports UNICEF's work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States. USF invites qualified candidates to apply for the internship described below.

Description:

USF seeks an intern to join our Southwest Region team interested in conducting donor research and learn about fundraising activities in our Southwest Regional Office in Houston, TX.

The internship will provide an opportunity to:

  • Develop and fine-tune a wide range of research, writing, and computer skills
  • Learn day-to-day operating imperatives of the nonprofit/charity sector
  • Learn valuable collaborative and group work skills (UNICEF USA as an organization is highly collaborative across departments)

The work schedule is flexible, but the successful candidate should expect to commit at least 15 -20 hours per week for the internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform research on Major Foundations, Corporations, and Individuals in the Southwest
  • Participate in special event logistics
  • Take part in maintaining donor information and handling donor information requests
  • Prepare solicitation materials
  • Support the Global Fellow with outreach activities in the community
  • Update the master list for the Southwest Region's special events
  • Perform other assignments as needed

Requirements:

  • Must be a current student enrolled in a College or University degree program
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Must demonstrate USF Core Values: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Teamwork, and Service
