The DTJ Communications Intern has oversight of the content that runs on DTJ.org, Mobile Cinema, and MediAID, and is responsible for reaching out to potential writers and contributors, curating links with partners, writing original articles on humanitarian issues especially those focused on children's rights and protection, and posting content to DTJ's social media channels. He/she has access to the DTJ content management system and manages the editorial calendar for the organization. Through effective management of partnerships and curated and original, the Communications intern ensures that all selections and content on the website and mailer is of the highest quality and on-brand for DTJ.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Identify content partners for DTJ (journalists, NGOs, leader in the field, advocates)
- Manage partner content and curate relevant links for the site & social media channels
- Writes original articles on topic related to DTJ's programs and missions, as well as humanitarian issues and children's rights
- Edits content to ensure that the DTJ voice is preserved and adheres to the style guide
- Posts relevant articles on social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, blog)
- Selects picks to be featured in monthly mailer & deploys mailer
- Ensures a balance of original and partner content across platforms
This internship is part-time with projected weekly hours being 15-20, Mon-Fri. You will be reporting to our Producer/Content Developer.
