Description

This position is responsible for assisting the Program Director of Friends for Youth's Mentoring Institute as it relates to current projects. This position will offer insight and experience in the operations of a nationally respected nonprofit, with a focus on administrative and operational tasks; this position will provide significant practical skills applicable to the nonprofit and human services field.

All operations will be managed and implemented according to established Recommended Best Practices in the mentoring field. These operations include marketing of Mentoring Institute resources and development of new resources to the mentoring field; assisting with training opportunities and technical assistance responses; supporting planning of the annual mentoring conference; representing the agency at relevant local and regional coalition meetings; and communicating with the Mentoring Institute's client database.

Specific duties include:

  • Update multiple social media and web outlets to harness the power of the web and engage the broader mentoring community.
  • Coordinate Mentoring Institute content for Web pages.
  • Support program services by responding to inquiries and product orders in a timely manner, management of client database, and assistance with monthly communication.
  • Assist in the execution of regular web-based trainings.
  • Identify, evaluate, and propose solutions to program areas that need special attention.
  • General office duties.

Qualifications Needed to Succeed:

  • Commitment to positive youth development. A desire to see young people succeed and a willingness to be a part of the solution.
  • Self-starter, ability to think creatively and take the initiative.
  • Strong written communication skills. Ability to write clearly and concisely, and in a compelling, persuasive style.
  • Familiarity with multiple social media avenues: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Strong sense of organization and prioritization, ability to approach tasks independently and proactively.
  • Knowledge of the local community and experiential knowledge learned as a mentor.
