Sparknews is seeking an intern to to produce daily "Solutions Journalism" content. "Solutions Journalism" is a growing trend in journalism that balances the problems that the media regularly speaks of with coverage of the solutions of to those problems. Much of the content revolves around social entrepreneurs and the products and services they develop.
The primary responsibilities of the intern will be to:
- research and write daily articles for the Sparknews Blog
- work with the Sparknews Community Manager to spread stories and interact with Sparknews' audience
- assist Sparknews' Editors to develop the Solutions Journalism for Impact Journalism Day, a day on which the world's news media will come together to publish reports about social entrepreneurship
- assist in the development of a news agency based around Solutions Journalism
The intern will be exposed to a variety of functions including:
- researching / writing / editing
- marketing / community management
- business development
Requirements:
- Masters student in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, Economics or Business with an excellent academic record
- a keen interest in Social Business and Sustainable Development; desire to pursue a career in these fields a plus
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English and French
- Experience working/studying with people from many countries; culturally sensitive
- Fluent in English and French; additional languages a real plus
