POSITION AVAILABLE: External Relations Intern
LOCATION: St. Paul, MN
REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Common Cause Minnesota
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Common Cause Minnesota is looking for communications/external relations interns to play a crucial role in Common Cause's election reform advocacy. The interns will work directly with the Executive Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Communication work will consist of writing of press releases, letters to the editor, and opinion pieces for local media as well as assisting in the production of a quarterly newsletter and coordinating our social media network. This position will also assist in relations with our financial supporters and work on Common Cause's membership campaign. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands on media experience and exposure to Minnesota's news media.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have strong communication skills, including demonstrated and effective writing and speaking. Must be able to multitask and prioritize workload in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Must be highly organized and have a working knowledge of web content management systems and social media tools including Facebook and Twitter.
