Description

Inwood House is a leader in empowering teens to overcome the challenges of poverty through teen pregnancy prevention programs and support programs for pregnant and parenting teens. Founded in 1830, we have a long history and strong programmatic track record. We are re-establishing our online presence and elevating our use of strategic social media & we need a dedicated and creative community manager to complete our team this summer.

As the Social Media/Community Manager intern you will help build and manage Inwood House's social media outreach strategies as a member of our Development & External Affairs Department. You'll help design and put engagement strategies into action through social media. You'll track and evaluate progress to ensure we're making data-informed iterative improvements and also follow relevant trends and information to elevate our thought-leadership and conversations with our communities of support online.

Apply if you're a self-starter who enjoys responsibility, wants some hands-on experience taking a non-profit's online presence to the next level and are excited to be creative and have fun while doing your job.

Organization Overview

Inwood House helps teens take charge of their lives and become healthy, self-reliant adults. A leader in helping youth in New York City become healthy, self-reliant adults, we believe in young people and their potential – no matter their circumstances. We help youth overcome the cycles of poverty linked to teenage pregnancy through prevention and support programs that help them take charge of their lives, be positive, active members of their families, communities & society, lead & be examples to other young people.

Our teen family support programs offer comprehensive care – education, employability and mental health services – for teen mothers who are in foster care, homeless, or adjudicated. We also run programs to support and engage teen fathers. We help young parents who face tough odds build strong families. Our prevention programs work to empower young people to build confidence, skills and information to help them make choices that help them realize their dreams. Inwood House believes in young people and their potential – no matter their circumstances.
