INTERNSHIP POSITION AVAILABLE – Marketing & Communications Intern

  • Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority (SCIDpda) is seeking a talented Marketing and Communications Intern for Winter/Spring 2013, to be based in Seattle, WA. We require a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. The preferred timeline will be January-June but start and end dates are flexible. This is an unpaid internship, but you may be eligible for work-study.

Organization's Mission: IDEA Space, SCIDpda's design and resource center, serves as a catalyst for spurring dialogue and mobilizing community members to participate in the decisions that will shape the neighborhood. Our multilingual staff is able to inform community members about neighborhood projects, collect their feedback, and ensure our community's voice is heard. We also connect our community with the resources necessary to accomplish neighborhood improvement projects. Currently, we provide assistance in the following areas: Public Safety, Real Estate Development, Design and Business Assistance.

Summary of Duties: To assist our program with marketing and communications.

Location: Seattle Chinatown-International District Preservation and Development Authority – IDEA Space's office is located in downtown Seattle's International District, by Hing Hay Park.

Hours: TBD - approx. 20-30 hrs. per week (flexible schedule)

Responsibilities: The Internship Position may consist of performing the following tasks independently and/or in assistance with IDEA Space staff.

Social Media Marketing

  • Assist in the development and implementation of social media strategy and creative Facebook and Twitter announcements.
  • Build Facebook and Twitter base, track statistics, post according to Google Calendar timeline
  • Read and review pertinent articles on the Chinatown-ID neighborhood to link to Facebook and Twitter
  • Maintain Chinatown-ID neighborhood website
  • Draft content for IDEA Space blog
  • Manage databases

Event Coordination

  • Outreach to participants and volunteers
  • Implement and facilitate special events
  • Manage databases

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Internet research sources
  • Ability to take initiative, multitask, and be flexible
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills
