Overview: About Public Prep

The Public Prep Network is a nonprofit organization that develops single-sex elementary and middle public schools that pursue excellence through continuous learning and data-driven instruction. Our model is designed to empower each student to build strong character, demonstrate critical thinking, possess a core body of knowledge and be on a predictive path to earn a degree from a four-year university.Public Prep is currently comprised of three tuition-free, all-girls charter schools.

Our model utilizes an extended school year and day and prioritizes professional learning. Public Prep offers a variety of opportunities for staff to exercise leadership in areas such as special education, curriculum design, staff recruitment and data analysis.

Joining our team at Public Prep

Public Prep Network seeks an outstanding Staff Recruitment Intern to start in early February 2013 and work through May 2013, with a possibility of extension. The internship will be eight hours a week for approximately 16 weeks, with additional hours at night or weekends for staff recruitment events and travel. The intern will have flexibility in the days and times he or she chooses to work and will be compensated $12 an hour.

The Staff Recruitment Intern has the unique opportunity to gain human resources and marketing experiences. The Staff Recruitment intern will report to the Associate Director of Recruitment and assist in all recruitment and screening efforts in order to ensure a deep, diverse, and talented applicant pool for different opportunities currently available within our network.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating database of applicants
  • Assist in communicating with candidates, including scheduling interviews and sending rejection letters
  • Assist in screening application materials for all positions
  • Assist in marketing efforts including preparation for presentations, use of social media, and purchasing, as necessary
  • Assist and preparation and follow up for job fairs
  • Post job descriptions to a variety of job boards
  • Search resume databases and cultivate potential applicants

Candidate Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will be a junior or senior in college pursuing a Bachelor's degree in marketing, human resources, communication, or other related field
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, integrity and professionalism
  • Expertise in Word, Excel, Outlook and internet
  • A commitment to education reform and the charter school movement
