Media & Communcations Intern

Make a Change – Child and Youth Finance International

CYFI is based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Child and Youth Finance International movement which is facilitating financial inclusion and financial education to children and youth across the world. Our goal is to reach 100 million children in 100 countries by 2015.

To achieve this, we are talking to policy-makers, world leaders, banks, international NGOs, academics, and many others. And of course…the children and youth!

This is where we need your help. We are looking for a communications intern – someone who is able to help with our content and professionalism. This includes

  • Website
  • Publications
  • Promotional material
  • Social media

A particularly exciting and challenging part of the job is building the Children's Movement. Through social media and other means, we want to engage children to really speak up on the financial issues that matter most to them, share with each other and be empowered to make a change! So if you are energetic, dynamic, love twitter, facebook, blogs, online communities – this might just be the job for you!

Duties and Responsibilities

Communications Strategy

  • Develop targeted communications products that raise the profile of the CYFI brand
  • Disseminate material through press and social media channels
  • Assist in the writing of CYFI monthly newsletter and other network publications
  • Produce content for website and blog and online games
  • Increase organizational web presence through website and social media strategy (knowledge of website and online outreach a necessity)
  • Ensure that the web presence (facebook, idealist, website, linkedin, twitter, wikipedia, youtube, etc.) is consistent and updated
  • Assist in the production of various marketing materials, including but not limited to, brochures, reports, publications and advocacy papers
  • Assist in the coordination of writing, design and printing of all materials
  • Support staff through developing advocacy, fundraising and programme materials

Skills / Attributes Required

  • Joomla webmaster experience (PHP, CSS experience also desirable)
  • Analytics & SEO (search engine optimization)
  • Photoshop/graphics skills
  • A love for social media
  • Design and layout knowledge, preferably experienced in using Adobe Creative Suite and HTML
  • Excellent command of the English language; Other languages a plus
  • Great writing ability
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and to work under pressure; flexibility
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office and ability to learn other computer programmes and software quickly
  • Ability to learn quickly and on the job
  • Creative and proactive personality
  • Fun-loving
