Uganda Youth and Women's Effort Fighting AIDS (UYWEFA) supports people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. UYWEFA provides education support, economic empowerment, home based care and youth activites. UYWEFA's long-term objective is to ensure people affected by HIV/AIDS in our community have access to healthcare and education opportunities in order to be able to provide for their and their family's needs. UYWEFA is serves the community of Kazo, approximately 20 kilometers outside of Kampala, Uganda.
UYWEFA is seeking a volunteer to serve as an HIV/AIDS counselor to provide support and home based care. The volunteer will meet with HIV positive individuals on an individual basis to provide support and guidance; they will also facilitate group gatherings.
Competencies Experience counseling HIV positive individuals. Working in a less developed area on health related issues. Understanding of health challenges faced by HIV/AIDS individuals living in poverty conditions.
