Position type: Unpaid, 10-20 hour/week internship commitment

Schedule: Flexible, based on programming schedule and candidate availability

Location: 720 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407

Purpose of position: CLUES' Education Department offers a wide range of workshops, classes and programs. Interns are essential to offering these services and achieving our mission. The Educational Enrichment Intern will work closely with the Adult ESL and Technology Training coordinators in both a direct service and development capacity. The intern will function as a program coordinator, which includes providing support to CLUES' adult ESL class and youth programs. As technology continues to rapidly progress, it is essential to have computer skills in order to acquire and maintain a job. The Classroom Technology Intern will assist in teaching adults to use and navigate the computer.

Responsibilities: Depending on the candidate's desired educational outcomes, the internship responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) coordinating program volunteers, facilitating and teaching ESL classes, assisting in program outreach and development, creating new partnerships with organizations in the Metro area, administrative duties, and other activities that the intern would like to explore.

CLUES reserves the right to terminate an internship or volunteer commitment if behavior is not in compliance with CLUES policies.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate should be responsible, punctual, and an excellent role model for our students.
  • Open and respectful to diverse life experiences, values, and backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills in English
  • Intermediate to high proficiency in Spanish language, including the ability to create materials and lead trainings in Spanish
  • Proficient in use of computers, as well as the ability to teach those with little to no skills in using computers

Requirements/Training:

  • Complete both a phone and in-person interview
  • Attend CLUES orientation with the Program Coordinator. This includes an initial interview, tour of the building, training on ESL instruction and curriculum, and introduction to EES staff.
  • Optional: Attend the ESL Tutor Pre-Service Training at the Minnesota Literacy Council.
  • A criminal background check and/or driving record check may be required. CLUES reserves the right to conduct background checks
