Organization: NJ Environmental Federation, NJ Chapter of Clean Water Action

Location: Long Branch, NJ

Compensation: Unpaid student intern, earn course credits and valuable experience

Required Education: currently working towards undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications and Marketing

Description:

NJ Environmental Federation's interns are actively involved in all areas of the organization, and play a vital role in the day-to-day operations. We are seeking interns who are well-organized team players with a commitment to and interest in environmental policy/eduction, non-profits, and/or marketing/communications. Interning with NJ Environmental Federation is a great way to gain real world experience that could lead to a career in non-profit management, environmental affairs, communications, marketing, or many other avenues.

The marketing/communications intern will work closely with NJ Environmental Federation's Communications Coordinator on website content management, newsletters, blogs, media outreach, and marketing materials. Additionally, the marketing/communications intern will have the opportunity to work on projects involving video editing, marketing design, and strategic planning, allowing for valuable experience in the field of environmental protection and communications and marketing.

Responsibilities (projects will be dependent on organizational needs and intern's interests and abilities)

  • Support communications staff
  • Write/Edit/Compile articles and other content for NJEF newsletter, blog, website and social media
  • Take and edit video and photos
  • Assist with maintenance of website and social media sites
  • Design and update marketing materials
  • Media research
  • Assist with the development of a marketing strategy for NJEF's annual conference and other events
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive material utilized throughout the internship
  • Participate in special projects and perform other related duties

Qualifications

  • Office experience and fluency in English required
  • Compassion and interest in environmental protection
  • Maturity to take initiative and work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Strict attention to detail and ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing goals and objectives
  • Ability to research and explore new technologies and quickly acquire new tech and communications skills
  • General interest in environmental protection, marketing, social media, online communications and/or visual communications
  • Proficiency with Photoshop, InDesign, and other relevant computer programs preferred
  • Experience with graphic design and/or html
