Alkarama Foundation – Media Assistant (internship)
Alkarama is recruiting a Media Intern who seeks to gain work experience in a multicultural human rights non-governmental organisation (NGO) working in cooperation with the United Nations to defend victims of grave human rights violations in the Arab world.
Qualifications & Skills
Degree in Journalism, Communications, Human Rights, International Relations or other relevant subject;
Previous work experience/Internships, ideally in a news, communications or campaigning organisation;
Excellent written command of French and English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus;
Interest in politics and the media in the Arab world;
Good understanding of social media, in particular Twitter and Facebook ;
Good computer skills ;
Attention to detail;
Ability to work to a deadline;
Willingness to do helps with administrative tasks;
Ability to work in a small multicultural team; professionalism;
Audiovisual skills are a plus.
The Media Intern will work closely with the Legal and Media colleagues at Alkarama. Among the tasks that the trainee is expected to do :
Writing and translation of communiqués for the website;
publishing articles on our website;
Maintenance of social media networks (Twitter/Facebook);
Maintenance of media contacts databases;
Media and social media monitoring;
Note-taking at meetings;
Any other related task that may help the team.
Alkarama will endeavour to assign the Intern tasks that will expand his/her experience, provide training, and help with future job search, including interview preparation.
Interns at Alkarama are fully integrated to the team and benefit from the same work environment as the staff. They do have a real opportunity to contribute significantly to the work of the organisation, hence acquiring essential skills for their future career.
Alkarama is only in a position to receive applicants who are legally allowed to engage in an internship in Switzerland (this usually applies to nationals of EU/EFTA or those who hold a residence permit in Switzerland). Alkarama is part of the "We pay our interns" initiative and as such provides interns with a monthly stipend.
