Since 1986, the Foundations associated with The Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies (ACBP) have focused their philanthropic vision on making a difference in Canada, Israel, the United States and around the Jewish world. ACBP seeks to nourish the deep and fundamental human desire to belong to a community and to help individuals forge connections between their identity and community. The principles and goals of the founders have been pursued via a myriad of programs and projects that are investing in next generations in an effort to change the world. In 2001, Charles Bronfman and his wife, Andrea — who passed away in 2006 — chose 2016 as the year by which ACBP would spend down its resources and phase out its grantmaking activities, having accomplished the goal of ensuring that the missions of the organizations that ACBP has successfully incubated would continue on independently.
