Internship description

The Development Intern provides support for day-to-day fundraising activities, works with the fundraising database, and assists in long-term planning and preparation for HLA's Benefit Breakfast in November. S/he will receive training in DonorPerfect, a software program used by many non-profit organizations, as well as FileMaker Pro and Constant Contact, and social media for non-profits. This is a weekday position with an 5-8 hour per week minimum. This position is unpaid.

Duties include:

assisting staff to plan, promote, and execute major fundraising event

organizing materials for mailings

researching potential funders and supporting grant writing

preparing donor acknowledgement letters

data entry and other database tasks

general administrative support

occasional errands in support of development/staff meetings

assisting with other development activities as needed

Requirements:

A mature, reliable intern will be critical to the success of HLA's development team. Candidates must be organized, detail-oriented, and self-driven, with a strong commitment to the quality of work. Candidates should have an interest in fundraising, event planning, healthcare and/or law, and an ability to work in a small, fast-paced, deadline driven office setting. Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
