The Member Services Intern performs duties associated with recruiting, matching, and supporting volunteers, vendors, and members. Interns work as a part of a collaborative team, and use the skills, expertise, experience and insights of volunteers, vendors, and members to develop a strong sense of community that support NEST members to age well.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the recruitment, training, & managing a vibrant and diverse volunteer & vendor corps to meet member requests for information & assistance.
- Conduct vetting process for volunteers and vendors, including background checks, & in-person meetings to ensure a safe and prepared service corps.
- Update volunteer materials & orient volunteers as needed.
- Utilize & update the organization's electronic database of contacts, volunteers, vendors, members, services provided, needs, to respond to member needs, & communicate with volunteers & members.
- Contribute to marketing projects, monthly newsletter, social media & website content as needed
- Represent NEST at community meetings, presentations, & events to recruit new volunteers, members & vendors.
- Keep the Member Services Coordinator informed of volunteer/member needs, trends & activities.

Qualifications and Skills
Required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and navigating the Internet
- Able to work in a computer database driven environment
- Experience planning, implementing and evaluating events and activities.
- Excellent communication skills, including an engaging and positive personality
- Multi-tasking, attention to detail, and constructive problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a changing, entrepreneurial, and program start-up environment
- Uses a solution oriented, collaborative, strengths-based approach to coordination and delivery of services
- An interest in the body, mind, social, and spiritual aspects of aging
Preferred
- Valid driver's license and regular access to personal vehicle.
- Experience recruiting, training, managing and supporting groups of people to address community needs through service projects.
- Experience working with people aged 65 and older.
- Experience coordinating volunteer services.
- Experience in a community center setting.
