Internship description

Concrete Safaris empowers youth to be healthy leaders through green exercise programs that enrich the mind, body, community and environment. Concrete Safaris needs volunteers to cycle, garden, run, exercise and make media projects with their City Surfers participants.

We are looking for dynamic individuals who are naturally motivated and possess clear and open communication skills. You should be humorous and playful with an ability to set clear goals and follow through. You are patient, flexible and enjoy working with elementary school age children. You are comfortable working in a leadership role, possess creative problem solving tools and are able to accept direction from our Staff. As a Concrete Safaris Volunteer, you will mirror our core values of respect, responsibility, unique-ness, leadership, listening, learning, energy, sharing, safety, and FUN!

Duties: 
Assisting Outdoor Education Director (OED) during after school hours, including leading curriculum that involves cycling, gardening, running, nature art, and playing games. Building athletic skills, positive attitudes, and enforcing teamwork. Helping with homework and serving snack. Classrooms of up to 20 children.

Details: This position requires the ability to work sensitively with parents and children. Must possess strong interpersonal and good problem solving skills. Must love to play outside, have the ability to participate in vigorous physical activity while leading activities with kids and have the ability to model positive behavior. Actively engage a diverse range of students in respectful and inclusive healthy play.

Day/Hour: Varied M-F, 1:00pm-6:00pm Games, plus organization time during the week. Times may vary depending on site.

Commitment: We ask for a minimum of 5 hours per week over a session (Fall Session: September - December; Winter/Spring Session: January - June) plus an occasional weekend day.
