About the National Committee on American Foreign Policy:

The National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP) was founded in 1974 by Professor Hans J. Morgenthau, Dr. George D. Schwab and others to serve as a nonprofit, independent foreign policy think tank to help shape U.S. foreign policy within the framework of political realism. It seeks to identify and to allay the gravest challenges to U.S. and global security. Among members are experts from the worlds of diplomacy and academia and leaders from business and the professions.

Internship Description and Responsibilities:

Intern must be pursuing an undergraduate degree. Students studying at local universities and those spending a semester in New York will be considered. Intern must be able to work one 8 hour day per week.

In addition to assisting with the day-to-day activities, the Intern's responsibilities will include administrative preparation for office meetings and events, organizing the intern e-mail inbox, updating office documents, researching local events for staff members to attend, maintaining an accurate master list of contacts for the office, and monitoring current research in the Asia-Pacific field.

Interns are encouraged to attend Forum on Asia-Pacific meetings, as well as general NCAFP public programs and events.

Requirements:

Ability to multitask and attention to detail a must. Strong research, writing, communication, organizational, facilitation and computer skills. Knowledge of Northeast Asian security issues, preferably on the China-Taiwan cross-Strait issue and/or the North Korean nuclear issue a plus. Ability to speak one or more Asian languages and experience from either working or living in Asia a plus. Knowledge of other think tanks, journals, academics, and policy analysts in the field is highly desirable.
