Green Apple Day of Service Partnership Organizer Internship
The Partnership Organizer will support communications, outreach, recruitment and relationship management with Green Apple Partners, Alliance Partners and other organizations in support of Day of Service.
Green Apple Day of Service will take place on September 28, 2013, and will engage communities from across the country and around the world in real action in support of healthy, sustainable schools and campuses. The Day of Service is powered by volunteers who participate in community-based efforts; promoted by media partners, like-minded NGOs and high-profile ambassadors; and supported by corporate partners whose global reach and resources can grow the green schools movement.
The Partnership Organizer will work with USGBC program staff to coordinate the efforts of our diverse partners, including global corporations, non-profit organizations and trade associations. These companies and organizations have committed to support Green Apple and the Day of Service in myriad ways, and program staff works to support their efforts through communications, event organizing and resource development/sharing. Serving as an extension of the USGBC program staff, the Partnership Organizer will gain valuable experience in supporting, strengthening and expanding multi-organizational alliances, and build relationships with key contacts in a variety of organizations committed to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Establish and maintain correspondence with Green Apple Partners and Alliance Partners, in support of their involvement with Green Apple Day of Service and other commitments
- Assist with outreach to prospective Alliance Partners and other kinds of supporting organizations
- Assist in the development of engagement strategies for the employees/members of our partners
- Develop online content with/for Alliance Partners on mygreenapple.org, such as service project ideas, blog entries, etc
- Work with program staff to design and implement a capacity building plan around Green Apple Day of Service
- Work with program staff on community outreach to build strong relationships and commitments to organizing Green Apple Day of Service events
- Conduct trainings for Green Apple Day of Service participants to help build their capacity to organize volunteers and successful service activities
- Serve as national point of support for regional volunteer leadership, providing technical and programmatic support to our partners
- Extensive direct outreach by phone to potential volunteers
Education & trainings requirements/preferences
- Previous work experience in team/office setting preferred
- Experience in issue-based organizational alliances, and/or community engagement
- Current enrollment in, or recent graduation from undergraduate or graduate program of study
Other required skills and qualifications
- Commitment to USGBC's mission
- Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills (MS Office)
- A strong interest in program management and organizational growth
