  • Bangalore, State of Karnātaka, India

Please email your resume to info@leaveurmark.com with the subject "Education Volunteer" and indicate when and how long you want to come. Also, email us to set up a phone or Skype session and find out more details! We look forward to hearing from you.

Leave UR Mark is looking for volunteers to help teach English in India to under served children and youth. With teacher absenteeism, low teacher to student ratio and under served schools being controlled by local and state governments, India needs more teachers that are willing to be committed, pay personal attention to children as well as provide creative teaching methods. The mission is to help children and young adults escape a background of poverty, slum life, illiteracy, and ignorance thereby creating opportunities for their integration into mainstream society.

  • You can serve children of pre-school age (generally 2 1/2 years old through 5) as well as students in class 1 through 10.
  • You can help in academics by following both innovative and traditional Indian methods.
  • Assist in multi-discplinary creative teaching such as education in fine arts, theater, skills development in crafts, physical exercise, music, etc.
  • Organize extracurricular activities such as club projects like the Science Club, Horticulture Club as well as field trips to widen the scope of learning
  • There are a few children that do not have a home to return to after school. Volunteers can help provide extra tutoring to these children after classes.

What you get

  • Teaching and managing a classroom experience
  • Guidance from qualified local teachers and educational administratives
  • Confidence by working in another country
  • A co-living experience with other international volunteers and interns

Requirements:

1. Must be able to commit to 6 weeks (closed in April and May for summer holidays unless you want to work on shorter days at summer camp)

2. Must be 18 years and older

3. Must be dedicated and reliable to go to work on a daily basis (8 am to 3 pm)

Leave UR Mark charges a $595 placement fee to help you with getting to India, visas, and total support for the duration of your trip. Volunteers can stay at our appartment with other international volunteers for an additional cost or find housing on their own. It all depends on your budget and travel style!
