SEIU Local 1 is a growing union of more than 50,000 janitors, security officers and other property service and industrial workers in six states. We are committed to building the power of low-wage workers and engaging in larger social issues, such as affordable health care, living wages and the rights of all workers regardless of immigration status.
Working with the Communications Department, the primary focus will be communicating with 50,000 SEIU Local 1 members in six states. The Communications Intern will have the opportunity to learn about framing issues and developing messages that advance union campaigns for affordable health care, fair wages and respect on the job.
The Communications Intern's role is to support the communications staff on various projects, including developing materials for effective communication with workers and the public. Specific internships can be designed based on the applicant's skills. This is an excellent opportunity to get real work experience in a dynamic labor union.
