Description

International Action is a non-profit organization working to bring clean water to the people of Haiti. We work with local community leaders, government institutions and other NGOs to build sustainable water infrastructure in desperately underserved parts of the country. We are currently looking for interns for the summer to assist with programs, communication, development and IT.

Duties for all interns:

All interns will assist with general administration, mailing campaigns, and answering the phone.

We ask that interns be able to commit to at least 12 weeks, working a minimum of 16 hours a week.

Open internship positions:

Program Intern: The program intern will assist IA program staff by:

  • Maintaining the program data base
  • Reaching out to potential partners
  • Reviewing and editing documents
  • Translating documents in French to English and vice versa
  • Drafting letters to potential partners

Qualifications:

  • Attending a four year university or a recent graduate required
  • Exceptional organizational, communications and writing skills required
  • French proficiency preferred, not required
  • Knowledge of Haiti's history, government, and current state is preferred

Development Intern: The development intern will assist IA development staff by:

  • finding new potential donors
  • Reaching out to potential donors to discuss eligibility
  • Administering thank you calls to supporters of IA
  • Assisting in all aspects of the College Awareness program

Qualifications:

  • Attending a four year university or a recent graduate required
  • Exceptional organizational, communications and writing skills required
  • Past experience with organizational development or interest in pursuing development as a career required

Journalist Intern:

  • Draft press releases regarding the recent activities of IA
  • Search out online blogs to post information about IA; update the IA blog
  • Contact news organizations to set up interviews for IA staff
  • Draft letters to potential partners and donors

Qualifications:

  • Attending a four year university or a recent graduate required
  • Exceptional organizational, communications and writing skills required
  • Pursuing a degree in journalism, English, communications, or a related field required
  • Experience with online blogs, writing for news organizations, or drafting news updates for a nonprofit organization are preferred

Tech and Media Intern: the tech/media intern will assist IA staff by:

  • Working with our website consultant to update IA's website
  • Creating awareness videos with footage shot by IA staff
  • Providing troubleshoot help for technology related issues
  • Creating marketing materials

Qualifications:

  • Attending a four year university or a recent graduate required
  • Exceptional organizational, communications and writing skill required
  • One year of experience with HTML code, website updates and general IT work required
  • Experience with creating and editing videos
