Internship description

Starlight Children's Foundation NY*NJ*CT offers a supportive, creative and hands-on working environment where interns can learn new skills and enhance existing ones. Interns are encouraged to create and implement projects that increase department and event efficiency. Flexible hours in order to work around class schedules. Starlight will work with interns to receive school credit when applicable and a letter of recommendation upon completion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the coordination of Annual Sports Auction, December Happy Hour, Friends of Starlight Committee, and Gala
  • Soliciting local businesses & stores to support the events through donations to live and silent auctions, as well as financial sponsorships
  • Assist other departments with various Starlight Programs and Outreach
  • Perform daily office duties including mailings, research, compiling lists, packing & data entry
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Starlight's Programs and perform other related duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to prioritize, and handle multiple tasks
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Database Management Programs)
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and professional demeanor

Education Requirements:

  • Candidates should be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in the field of Public Service, Non-Profit Management, Social Work, Public Health Administration, Communications, Marketing, and/or related discipline.
